Intervention 2 — Dyslexic Children’s Exchange Group

The purpose of my first intervention was: I had wanted to create a way to help children with dyslexia read. But after the first intervention happened, I also received feedback from experts telling me that I should not try to create a method to treat dyslexia in an unprofessional way. So after that, I focused on the internal struggles of children with dyslexia. I did a second intervention for this. I created a chat group, a platform for dyslexia children, called the Dyslexic Children’s Exchange Group, The purpose of my group is to provide a platform for everyone to communicate and for more people to join. It is also a way for parents to discover the strengths of their children. To cultivate more possibilities for them. Not just academic achievement. and about a month ago, I invited more parents to join. I would regularly post information in the group about a proper understanding of dyslexia. It started with 15 people and now there are more than 100. Gradually, those parents also interacted and discussed dyslexia with each other. I think it’s good that I provided a platform for them, This will get more people to join in. The feedback I’ve received from many parents has been positive. Because they all lacked a platform where they could communicate with each other before. I have also interviewed some of them.

FEEDBACK FROM DR. JINGJING ZHAO:

Hello Yang.
I would like to congratulate you on your email. Your idea is very constructive and there is currently a lack of a platform for mutual communication about dyslexia in China. The most important thing now is to make more parents aware of this. I hope you can keep going, but I have a small comment. You are an art student, do you think it is necessary to make your work more artistic?

Good luck with your research, Zhao Jingjing
