Exploring the current state of research on dyslexia in China by means of a data search.
In order to investigate the current status of dyslexia research in China, we searched the full-text database of Chinese academic journals for the terms “dyslexia” “Chinese” and “Mandarin”. A total of 764 studies on Chinese dyslexia were retrieved. It can be seen that the number of relevant literature is generally on the rise, with only 14 studies before 2002 and a significant increase in the number of studies after 2002, especially since 2007, when research on Chinese dyslexia entered a boom period, with 83 articles published in 2019. However, there is still a considerable gap in comparison with Western countries. In terms of the distribution of research topics on Chinese dyslexia, researchers have conducted a large number of studies on the classification of Chinese dyslexia, language processing characteristics, reading ability, and general cognitive functions using various techniques such as behavioral, eye-movement, and EEG.
